WORDS FROM PASTOR TIM FLYNN

GREETING MESSAGE

Whether you are familiar with church or just curious, we welcome the opportunity to meet you and to help you know and grow in the Lord. RBC is a joyful, family oriented church with an emphasis on outreach through local and global missions.
My name is Timothy Flynn and my wife Kristen and three daughters have had the privilege of serving in the Lord’s work for the last 22 years, 12 of which have been at RBC. Our services are traditional, with Bible teaching and preaching, and joyful singing with a mixture of hymns and choruses. I hope you will visit and be blessed in one of our services.

Common Questions

How can I know God on a personal level?

Conventional thinking says that one must do something religious or attempt to please God by self-denial or good deeds to deserve His favor. While these are admirable, the Bible reveals to us how we can have a personal relationship with Him.

It begins with God’s great love for mankind and His proving that love by giving His Son, Jesus Christ to die on a cross to pay our sin debt with His own blood (John 3:16). The reason for this act of love is that all mankind are sinners and are deserving of eternal Hell separated from God (Romans 6:23). In order for one to have life eternal, he must be perfectly righteous which is an impossibility for anyone to achieve. Therefore, Jesus Christ Who is perfectly righteous is qualified to die in our place, thus taking our sin and granting to us His righteousness (2 Corinthians 5:21). So, by His death, burial and victory over death by His resurrection, anyone willing to confess their sin and call upon Jesus Christ to save them is made a child of God forevermore (Romans 10:9, 13). You can invite Jesus Christ to be your personal Savior today, simply by believing on Him and asking Him by faith to save you (Romans 10:10).

Should I be baptized?

In the Bible, believers baptism is only for those who have made a personal decision to trust Jesus Christ as Savior (Acts 8:35-40). Many people have been baptized as babies or young children and have no idea what took place and made no decision based on understanding. Therefore, only believers are to be baptized by immersion like Jesus was (Matthew 3:13-17). One does NOT get baptized to become saved, but in obedience to Jesus Christ and as a testimony of calling upon Him and becoming publicly identified with Him (Romans 6:4-5).

Why A Baptist church?

The name Baptist is derived from a historic community of believers who re baptized people once they were saved, because that is the Scriptural method. They were known as “Anabaptists” or re-baptizers. These Bible believing Christians were severely persecuted for their stand on God’s Word. In short, there is a heritage of people who adhered to Scripture and therefore, an independent Baptist church is typically one that strives to base everything on the Bible.

What is so special about the Bible?

Without God giving His Word to mankind, it would be impossible to know how to know Him in a personal way. General revelation, i.e. creation, conscience and providence give us a witness of God’s existence and involvement with the world, but short of those things, cannot tell us how to have a relationship with Him. Therefore, the Bible was given by God through inspiration and kept intact by preservation (2 Timothy 3:16-17). It is through the Bible that we can know Jesus Christ and how to be saved. The Bible serves as an authority and a guide for everyday life (Psalm 119:105). RBC is committed to the King James Bible.

When I arrive at the church, what can I expect?
